My Philosophy
01.
Breathwork
Through pregnancy, our ability to breath with our diaphragm decreases and we tend to use our secondary respiratory muscles (neck and shoulders) more due to postural changes and baby taking up so much space. This can lead to to neck, shoulder and back pain, pelvic floor dysfunction among other issues. I focus on retraining our breathing system through diaphragmic breathing that will also stimulate our parasympathetic nervous system (hello - better rest, digestion and sex drive!)
02.
Reconnecting to your pelvic floor
Whether you are pregnant, have had a vaginal delivery or a c-section, your pelvic floor has been compromised in order to grow and birth a child. I teach you how to do the slow and focused work to reconnect you to your pelvic floor through specific exercises, BEFORE you return to the activities you love most. This helps prevent injury, lessens the chance of pelvic organ prolapse in the long-term and allows you to participate in your favourite activities without fear or embarrassment getting in your way.
03.
Rebuild your deep core
Whilst you are pregnant, your growing belly will stretch out your abdominal fascia, your ribs will flare, and your body will have to accommodate the increased weight in the front. Diastasis recti (ab separation) is incredibly common after pregnancy. According to Mota et al. (2015), 100% of women have a diastasis recti at their due date and 39% have it at 6 months postpartum! I can help restore your core, without sacrificing your pelvic floor. Often an attempt at recovering an abdominal separation can come at the expense of worsening of pelvic floor dysfunction and prolapse. I experienced this myself and it is something I am passionate about teaching women how to avoid.

Testimonials
Kimberlee Nakic, Vancouver, Canada
"It is now two years postpartum from my second birth, and I’m finally feeling connected to my body again. With Kate’s guidance over the past few months, I now understand what the missing puzzle pieces were for my recovery. She was able to recognize what I needed right away, and her progressive approach to recovery is both thoughtful and effective. Being a mother herself, she has personal knowledge of the physical strain of pregnancy and birth on our bodies. Her ability to relate to what I am going through helps me feel completely supported in my own recovery.
Kate has skillfully led me through corrective exercises to encourage proper breathing patterns, to manage rib flare, and to increase my overall core strength. This has already made a huge difference in the mobility of my mid back and ribs. I’m also starting to see less of a tummy pooch! I still have a long way to go, but I am so grateful to have Kate supporting me as I get stronger. I love her progressive and purposeful approach in our sessions. She challenges me while cheering me on, and my body is becoming so much stronger as a result. I highly recommend connecting with her, no matter how far along you are in your postpartum journey. Thank you, Kate!"

"I am 9 months postpartum with my second child and wish I knew Kate after my first. The detail of her program and personalization to me has been amazing. After a month working with Kate I am feeling connected with my body for the first time in my life, understand all of the movements and can feel a difference already in my pelvic and core strength. No more back pain from doing exercises incorrectly and barely any leakage when on the trampoline with my kids. I love that Kate has gone through the experience herself so definitely “gets” it and has gone above and beyond to have the knowledge and share it so passionately. Life changing experience for me."

“After twins I felt like my body would never recover, Kate gave me the tools to get back to fitness in a way that I can easily incorporate into everyday life. During that hour in Kate's program she walked us from very beginner to feeling confident and ready to take on any activity, even running or sneezing without leaks! Kate is compassionate and open which made me feel at home with her.”

“Kate has a calm, kind and relatable approach to helping get you back on track and back into your body. I felt safe, supported and totally understood as Kate knows what she's talking about and she's 'been there'! I was struggling with feeling discomfort in my pelvic floor still 1 year post caesarean delivery of my son. The knowledge and support Kate offered me has helped resolve this. I couldn't recommend her enough - let Kate help you heal and get into the shape that feels like you.”
